Supporting education and innovation.

Our mission is to promote the health of our community by serving as educators, community leaders, health system innovators, and geriatric clinicians. We are dedicated to providing evidence-based training for our geriatric fellows, preparing them to practice in a variety of clinical settings and care for older adults in the community.

Application Process and Criteria

Our Geriatric Medicine Fellowship is a one-year clinical training program for board-certified or board-eligible physicians from an ACGME-approved internal or family medicine residency. Up to four fellows will be accepted annually through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) and are expected to start July 1st. Off-cycle trainees will be considered if accommodations are needed. Electronic applications are accepted through the Electronic Resident Application System (ERAS).

Learn. Lead. Change

Advocacy: Fellows receive extensive training, preparing them to provide effective care to vulnerable older adults, addressing their unique needs and challenges. These skills empower fellows to make a significant impact in geriatrics and improve the health of their communities.

Community Collaboration: Fellows train at several facilities throughout the city to gain a well-rounded experience. These facilities include the West Chester Family Medicine Practice, where fellows serve as primary care physicians for a panel of patients, the VA Cincinnati Medical Center, West Chester Hospital, the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, local nursing homes, and community programming with the Giving Voice Foundation.

Elective Opportunities: We offer a wide range of elective opportunities at both UC Health and the VA. These electives are customized to help you develop the skills needed for your unique career path.
